Proof Poker is Not All About Luck

Bob Gibson's my answer to all those people out there that believe luck plays a significant role in victories. Gibson had a long enough sports career for even the most ardent believers of luck to notice that he made it without much help from that fickle source. As a result of his skill he ended up being named into the Hall of Fame in 1981, proving irrefutably that luck alone doesn't count.
In the poker world as well, you'll find many people of the same opinion where luck's concerned. I concede that luck does ensure a win here or there but in the long run, an unbroken streak of luck can, in my opinion, work to the disadvantage of a poker player. I'd ask any poker player with such a lucky streak to refrain from playing. Keep reading to find out why I believe there can be no worse enemy than luck as far as a poker player's concerned.
To start with consider luck and the beginner. It generally contributes towards their wins in one way or another. Usually it does so in the form of a perfect winning hand.
But consider a good poker player and their skills are often good enough to ensure repeated wins. You'll be surprised to find that they'd rather not have luck interfere with their rational calculations which allow them to predict what the odds are and also to curtail their losses.
Winners at the poker table are often termed "lucky." But often their "luck" is nothing more difficult than adopting an analytical mindset and making use of logic. They make use of tricks such as the raising of bets to indicate to others that they've got a better hand than any of them and thereby scaring them into giving up. That's hardly luck.
Yes, luck does account for a minute number of wins even where a skilled player is concerned. However, given a choice, they'd rather rely on their logic and analytical skills. You too can adopt a similar method if you'd like to keep winning at the table. Don't let it all rest on luck which can easily do a volte face.
If you do this and are still losing then don't let that bog you down. Know that your logical skills will soon put you back on track and you'll be winning the pot again and again. Once you learn to play it this way, you'll be able to forever dispense with fickle lady luck.

The Differences Between Internet Poker to Casino Poker

The poker world over the past decade has dramatically changed with the boom of the Internet. Although, most gambling games can be found online today the differences between playing online and at a casino do not change the face of the game. For instance black jack which is a gambling game found on the Internet and played worldwide is a betting game that is played against the dealer and it does not matter if you are sitting at home in front of your computer or at the casino the outcome will be the same.
Of course the mere fact that a player is sitting at home in front of the computer as opposed to the noisy and exciting casino can affect a players betting and play. However the decision to hit, stay or double will ultimately stay the same.
Poker, on the contrary, is a game played that very much depends on what the player's opponent has and what that opponent believes the player has. Bluffing, for example, is a huge part of poker, and playing online is a completely different type of bluffing than at the casino.
Like all things there are pros and cons to playing online ( online gambling games ) and to playing at the casino. When playing poker online, because you do not see the person and the means of communicating is through typing this can be a huge advantage or disadvantage. It is advantageous because now your opponent cannot read your reactions and has to guess what you hold in your hand. It also gives you the time to make decisions without feeling rushed or pressured by the people at the table. (Although some aggressive chatter's can put the pressure on.) On the other hand the fact that you cannot see your opponent and cannot put the pressure on him is a disadvantage for you the player.
Online poker gives even the beginner player the time and atmosphere to win real money and to truly improve their game. It also gives a poker player that "tells" easy a forum to bluff and bet without giving away his hand.
Casino poker is poker played in an exciting atmosphere under lights and at a table of other players betting, bluffing and raising. For an experienced player and a player that is good at bluffing and reading people the casino is for them.
It may seem that to be an excellent online poker player and a great casino player is contradictory, but it is not. You can be and excellent casino player and an amazing online poker player by just understanding the nuances of each game. At the end of the day poker is poker!!!

Who To Bluff In Texas Hold 'Em

Learning to become a successful bluffer in poker is an essential skill for any good poker player to master. However, there is a lot more to the art of bluffing in poker than most poker players realize. It is more than making a big raise just because you feel like it at that moment in time. One important factor that will make you a more successful bluffer in poker is knowing who to bluff. Let's take a look at a few bluffing tips in poker to help you decide who you should bluff.
There are certain types of players that are vulnerable to bluffing and certain types of players in which bluffing will be much more difficult against. For starters, you never want to bluff a beginner or novice poker player. Most beginners play straight forward poker in that if they have a hand they call and if they don't they fold. Many times they don't even consider their opponents cards, they are just playing their own cards. So if you bet into a novice poker player and they call then do not bluff at them on a later street even if a dangerous card falls on the river. For example, let's say you bet the turn with a straight draw and your novice opponent calls your bet. You figure he has a marginal hand like middle pair. You miss your straight draw on the river but realize that a third spade landed making for a possible flush. You are considering bluffing the river with your missed straight draw to try to represent a flush. We have to remember that our opponent is a beginner player and is more than likely not even considering what you have. He is probably going to call the river because he has a pair. Therefore, it is not a good idea to attempt bluffing novice poker players. They are more likely to call your bet simply because they don't know any better.
Another type of player that you do not want to bluff is a calling station. A calling station in poker is a player that calls all the time. If they have any type of draw (even an inside straight draw) or any pair whatsoever these players call and call all the way to the river trying to make their hand. The purpose of bluffing is to try to get your opponent to fold their hand. It is usually not a good idea to bluff calling stations because they rarely fold.
Trying to bluff maniacs in poker is also a bad strategy. A maniac is a player who plays almost every hand and bluffs a lot. Since these types of players bluff so much themselves they usually think that other people are bluffing all the time like them and therefore are more likely to call your bluff.
If you can't bluff beginners, calling stations, or maniacs then who can you bluff? The types of players that you should be looking to bluff are tight, solid players. A tight solid poker player is someone who does not play a lot of hands and is unwilling to put a lot of chips into the middle unless they have a really strong hand. Since it is difficult to make strong hands all of the time and these types of players will fold unless they have a strong hand they are good candidates to bluff. If you try bluffing these types of opponents you will find that more and more of your bluffs will be successful.

Why People Play Poker

Other people enjoy the game. Other play the game for money. But why should they? Not a lot of people know the answer for this question but in a nutshell, one can say that these two are practically the reasons why people play the game of poker.
Poker is serious business. It is a game where frequent and industrious study, deliberately trying to enhance your skills and knowledge, and extreme hard work pays off. There is no poker equivalent of having frequent golf lessons that can make some faces of your game better, but that would screw up those very few things you currently do well. Probably the only close parallel in the aggregate learning proves included in poker is more something like, once you learn how to successfully bluff, then you still need to have enough patience and force yourself not to bluff every single hand that you can.
But beyond the most basic levels, enriching yourself as a better poker player can also prove to be very difficult. If you observe a couple of player, you can observe that this is particularly true. You can even say, with ease, that "going on tilt is bad, so don't do it" but that's just because you are not the one playing. Not on player out of ten can manage to keep tilt to a trivial level. In the rest of their lives, people are incapable to handle equally obvious concepts: there is no point licking lamp posts, avoid putting your hand on a stove burner, don't wear your clothes inside and out. Players, particularly men, cannot prevent their anger, machismo and stubbornness from ruling their play and get the most of them. This then, becomes extremely dangerous and unhealthy for any poker player.
Going back to the point, a lot of players just do not accept that fact that poker is a hard, complicated game that demands too much from its players.
It is easier to believe in ghosts and fairies than it is to engage in hard work that you need to win. Say "change the deck" and you will feel that it is very easy. But studying your rival's tendencies and managing your play to apply to your opponent's strengths and weaknesses is way too hard and complicated. You can do all things amateurish like crying, whining, blaming dealers, flinging cards or saying that the game is rigged. That's perfectly natural as they exist in all poker games because they are easier to do than studying and having the patience to do so.
The lust for shortcuts and easy money overwhelms a lot of poker player, even seasoned ones. These players are urged to find easy answers to very complex problems. They do not have the patience to learn the skill-and they want answers fast. Little do they know that phantom knowledge brings everything but success.
So the next time you step on a poker table, do not let anything overwhelm you. Try to keep your composure and maintain your cool. You are in control and you should be for the rest of your game.

Online Poker - Good Online Poker Tools

Are you an online poker player? If you play online poker, this article will be very useful to you. In this article, let me share with you some online poker tools that you can use and benefit from them.
Online poker tools are software programs that you can use to improve your game and increase your odds of winning. They are legal to use and they are categorized into 3 main types:
1. Tracker. Tracker is use to track the action of your opponents. When you are playing, it is impossible for you to always keep an eye on your opponents and analyze what you will do next at the same time. The tracker will track the bets and the cards of your opponents over the course of the tournament. Some advanced trackers even categorize your opponents into their classes: aggressive or conservative players. This can help you to understand your opponents and understand their playing style.
2. The assistant. The assistant is an odds calculator. When it comes to winning online poker, sometimes it is about calculating the odds of winning. The assistant will tell you the strength of your hand and calculate the odds of winning with your current hand. It will also tell you what the odds are of you getting certain hands. These are very useful information that can help you win games.
3. Text based advices. Some tools offer text based advices in the game and some of them are quite useful. Other than providing you with some advices on the odds, it also look at opponents bets and advise you on what you should do next. This is a very useful tool for beginners and it will give the steps that they should take in order to increase the chance of winning.
To find a list of online poker tools, you can do a search on search engines. There are free and paid tools available and it really depends on what you need. Before you decide to use any tool, make sure that the online poker room that you are in accepts them.
The tools that I recommend in this article are completely legal. They give you sound advices but cannot guarantee wins. Therefore, they are not cheat software so you can go ahead and use them. Although with the help of these tools, you must still use your own judgment and have the experience in order to win games.

A Home Poker Game

Every poker player learned to play poker at a home game. The participants traditionally cross generational lines, and the older players teach the younger players the fundamentals of the game. I know that in our home, we learned to play poker from our Dad.
Dad and his friends would gather every couple of months or so for a game at our house. We weren't allowed to be part of Dad's game when his friends were there. No, that game was for adults. We got our poker lessons during the week at the dining room table after dinner. Once we had been apprised of the basics of poker (7 Card Stud), we would play cards with each other or with our cousins. Cards became part of our lives; and when we got together with our cousins you could be sure that a card game would part of the festivities.
When my brothers became Dads, our Dad would spend time with his grandchildren (both boys and girls), teaching them the finer points of poker. He started teaching them Poker when they were just five or six years old. And Grandpa did not pull his punches. He didn't "let" the kids win. The cards fell as they were destined to fall. If the grandkids had the best hand, they won. If they didn't have the best hand, they lost. Yes, Grandpa taught his grandchildren how to lose as well as how to win. Since losing is a fact of life in poker, Grandpa felt that it was only fair to teach his grandchildren a lesson about life, as well as a lesson about Poker. The kids learned not become upset because they didn't win. That's a heck of a lesson about life.
My Dad rarely went about teaching life lessons. Yet life lessons were learned by being with him.
From my Dad, I learned about charity. Not because he taught me, but because he showed me in the charitable things he did. From my Dad, I learned about doing the right thing. Not because he taught me, but by watching him do the right things year after year. From my Dad, I learned about love. Not because he taught me, but because of the love he showed me all the days of my life...until the day he died, two weeks before Christmas eight years ago.
I miss my Dad. I think of him often, especially around the holidays. But the lessons that I learned from him, I carry with me every day. And my love of poker started with my Dad.
THAT he taught me.

How To Win On Online Roulette

Online casinos can offer you the same games that actual casinos do. One of the most popular casino games, whether online or not, is roulette! If you are wondering if there are any ways for you to increase your chances on how to win on online roulette, it would be best for you to recognize that there are no hard and fast rules nor are there any foolproof systems you can use that will help you win big. What you do need to remember is that there are a few tips you can keep in your back pocket that can be used to your advantage when playing online roulette.
Tip 1: Online roulette websites often offer a free trial. Before committing to any game, try your hand at a free game first. This will enable you to be a little riskier without having to lose any money in case your risks do not pay off. If you do end up doing well in a free game, take note of what you did right and see if it will work for you again later on. Either way, free online roulette games are for your benefit so take advantage of them.
Tip 2: Remember that there are two types of roulette wheels-the American roulette wheel and the European roulette wheel. The American roulette wheel has an extra number, the double zero (00), making 38 numbers on the wheel, while the European roulette wheel only has 37 numbers. It may not sound like a big deal but that double zero also doubles the house edge from what would only be 2.63 percent for the European roulette wheel to 5.26 for the American roulette wheel.
Tip 3: Use your money wisely. Make small bets and spread them across the roulette layout rather than making one big bet on one number. All players lose some amount of money so do not be discouraged but do not go chasing after whatever money you have already lost. Move on and keep your pace steady and sure.
Wanting to know how to win on online roulette is well and good but do not forget to have fun while you are at it. Enjoyment is the only thing that you can be really sure of in a game of roulettes. It doesn't cost money but the rewards you will reap will be priceless if you learn how to roll with the punches and just play for the sake of playing.

The Fundamentals of Every Roulette Game

Mankind has a passion for gambling since its hunter-gatherer days. The seeming random events in life where reason has no room led us to rely on chance, to the point that it has become a mundane part of our existence. As society evolved in complexity, gambling progressed into religious rituals, and soon enough, into a source of amusement.
Gambling treated as a form of entertainment gradually gave way to the establishment of gambling houses, which are now commonly called casinos. These casinos offer a variety of games of chance, but only a few stand out. Among these is roulette, a very popular casino game that is almost synonymous with gambling itself.
A Quick Look at Roulette's History
Roulette started as an 18th century game based on a wheel-type invention of no other than Dr. Blaise Pascal. With its easily understandable set up, roulette's popularity quickly grew in European casinos. It didn't end up as a fad that quietly disappeared from gambling dens however. The early days of global trade brought the game to America - where it also ended up loved by many gamblers - and eventually to the rest of the world.
The Roulette Table
The core components of a roulette table include its signature wheel and a betting board. These two are virtually inseparable, and the game is not complete without one or the other.
Near the center of the wheel are 36 red and black slots labeled 1 to 36 and one or two green slots reserved for the zero(s). In European roulette, there is only one single zero slot and the numbers are arranged in random while in American roulette, the wheel has single and double zero slots and the numbers are arranged in pairs opposite of each other.
Now the board where players place their stakes is composed of labeled spaces for inner and outer bets. The former are placed on the spaces representing the numbers in the wheel. These spaces are usually surrounded on three sides by those where the aptly named outside bets - odd, even, red, black, 1-18, 19-36, dozens and columns - are placed.
How is Roulette Played?
Playing roulette is fairly uncomplicated. Players first have to purchase uniquely colored chips from the dealer. These chips may or may not have monetary values, and are used as bets in place of real cash.
Players may bet as much as the casino allows and can change their stakes as much as they want. However, once the dealer announces, "No more bets", the wagering is immediately stopped, after which the wheel is spun and the ball is rolled. The players will then only have to hope that the ball lands on the slot they've bet on.
While American roulette is more straightforward, European roulette has a few extra rules which are incurred whenever the ball lands on zero. The La Partage rule gives the player a chance to recover half his bet or invoke the En Prison rule, where the entire bet will remain on the board for the next round.
Roulette definitely is a simple game. It may look a tad dull for non-gamblers, but once you've joined in and placed your bets, you'll surely feel the thrill that brought many to the game.

Roulette Series - Betting in Roulette and Payouts

As long as the roulette wheel and the ball are spinning, always in contrary directions, all the numbers and slots share the same probability to win.
There are of course some bets that have a higher probability to win, but pay less. The bets are divided in two major groups: the inside bets, and the outside bets.
The "inside" roulette bets are those placed on the numbered squares, and the "outside" are those located outside, and group many numbers.
The highest bets in the inside categories are the "Straight-up" and the "Spit".
The "Straight-up" bet is when a chip is placed inside one square, covering one number. This means, there are 31 to 1 odds against winning, but the payout is 35 to 1, and this include the "0" and double "00". The next highest, the "Split", occurs when the chip is placed on the line adjoining two squares, regardless of the numbers, for example, betting on 17 and 18 or 8 and 11 at the same time. This has a payout of 17 to one.
The highest payouts in this category are the "dozen" bets and the "column" bets, which encompass groups of 12 possible numbers with a little less than 33% of probability to win, the payout is 2 to 1.
The "outside bets" have a much smaller payout, but much more possibilities to win. With bets like "1 to 18", "19 to 36", "Red or Black", "Even or Odd" the payout will be 1 to 1, with an almost 50% chance to win.
Playing roulette can be very lucrative, time consuming, entertaining but also, can cost a lot of money. There are no special tricks, charms or techniques to win or lose; it is all a matter of luck and probability laws applied.

Roulette - How to Play the Game

Roulette is one of the most popular casino games today. It is played by spinning a ball on a purpose built wheel, and betting on which number the ball would rest. The object of the game is to pick the winning number that the ball will land on when it finishes spinning around the wheel.
A roulette wheel is a sophisticated kind of equipment. It is about two and a half feet wide and weighs about 90 pounds. The wheel is located in a shallow bowl with a wall curved towards the inside and is designed to rotate around a vertical axis. The wheel and the bowl are so designed that a small ball can be spun on the inside of the wall. The perimeter of the wheel is evenly divided into pockets that serve as the indentation on the wheel that the ball comes to rest in. These pockets contain numbers from 1 to 36 alternatively colored Black and Red except for the single zero and double zero which are colored green.
The number of pockets depends on the kind of Roulette wheel it is. There are basically two kinds of Roulette wheel: the European and the American. The European wheel has 37 pockets numbered 0-36. In which case, the house edge is 2.7 %. The American wheel has 38 numbers because of the additional double zero (00). The house edge in American wheel is 5.3 % due to this extra number.
The game goes this way. First the dealer spins the wheel in one direction and then spins a ball in the opposite direction. The ball travels on a tilted circular track running around the circumference of the wheel. After several rotations, the ball loses its momentum and finally drops into one of the pockets. If the ball drops, for example, on 13, we say that the winning number is 13. The dealer first collects the losing chips and pays the winning players. Every bet on the layout either wins or loses.
Roulette bets are made by placing the chips in certain parts of the betting area. The player should fully understand where and how the bets are placed. Roulette layouts have two betting areas. The inside betting area contains the individual numbers. The outside betting area has boxes for the columns, red/black and odd/even and different groups of numbers. The numbers on the inside are arranged in 12 rows of three numbers forming three vertical columns. The layout of both the American and European wheel is almost the same, except that the American layout has an extra double zero. Both the 0 and 00 are at the top of the columns.
Every Roulette table has a minimum and maximum bet limit set by the house. The players may place new bets as soon as the previous bets are removed and until several moments before the ball drops in a pocket. Players can continue to place bets until the dealer announces "No more bets."

The Present and Future of Online Gambling

The Present and Future of Online Gambling
In March 2011, one of the major online casinos announced that it had dealt its one billionth blackjack hand. And when you think of how many web casinos exist, it gives you some idea of just how popular visiting casinos online is. When the first online casino went live in 1996, nobody could have predicted the twists, turns, and huge growth the industry would experience, particularly when you add in smart mobile devices, which are finding their way into more hands every day.
Statistics by Nielsen Media Research in 2010 showed that in the UK alone, online gambling traffic was up by 40% over 2009. It also found that 46% of online players were women and about 50% were middle aged men with above average salaries. And in the US, the National Annenberg Survey of the Young found that some 16% of college-aged men visited online casinos at least once a month, up dramatically over 2008 figures.
Many online gambling venues credit the increase in popularity to the development of industry standards by groups like eCOGRA (eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance), better responsiveness to customer service, and a commitment to providing players with safer, higher quality sites. Newer payment methods are coming online, and more currency and language options are also assisting in the worldwide growth of gambling websites.
One of the biggest world regions for expansion of online gambling is Latin America. These 33 countries, with a population of around 570 million, are ripe for investment by web gambling firms. In fact, investors in areas like financial service providers and online server operators are keenly eying Latin America as a front for expansion.
A chief reason for the appeal of expanding online gaming into Latin America is the existing telecommunications infrastructure, including widespread availability of broadband and mobile internet. In 2009, internet access reached nearly 200 million Latin Americans, and it was growing at a clip of 30% per year.
Mobile online gambling appears to have the greatest potential for growth in Latin America, because device penetration in the region was at 80% in 2009, which was above the world average, with mobile networks reaching nearly 500 million people. Couple this with the rapidly evolving graphics and game features specifically for mobile devices, and it is clear why any casino online looking to expand would do well to consider this region.
But mobile device gambling isn't just a Latin American phenomenon. Mobile devices are rapidly growing in popularity everywhere, and the web casinos that develop applications for it are the ones who will be first in line to take advantage of this market.
Online gambling has come quite a long way since 1996. More regulations are in place to help reassure consumers, and more payment and currency options are available. The graphics and software platforms are better than ever, casinos are taking a new look at customer service, and mobile handheld devices like Android phones and iPhones are opening up a new sector in online gambling. In short, it is a very exciting time for the online gambling industry.

A "no deposit casino bonus" is not provided to users over and over again. It is a onetime deal, and hence, valid only when the users signs up initially with the casino. The Thrill of the Game

Every gamer knows the feeling: the thrill of the game. You want to win; you want to complete the level. You want to get better. Gaming is for a lot of people a daily activity. According to 'Today's Gamers Survey 2009' 83% between 8 year and 50+ play games with an average of 10.5 hours a week.
The gaming world provides us thousands and thousands of games on different platforms. One upcoming genre is: casino games. 10% of the gamers play casino games according to new figures of 'Today's Gamers Survey 2010'. Online casino operators noted also a growth last year.
Casino games have the same gaming aspects like other games. You want to win; you want to get better. But these games have something else to: the gambling aspect. Gambling is something of ancient times. The gambling aspect involves luck, skills and money. An extra thrill of the game.
Think about the online casino game Roulette. It is attended with a lot of excitement. You wager at a (couple of) numbers, a color, odd or even. And then the thrilling minutes that the ball goes round and round. Will it hit your lucky spot?! When it does, you feel unconquerable. Yihaa.
More platforms are offering casino games. The PC casino game is popular according to Today's Gamers, 12% of the people play them. On the PC the online casinos have a good quality in graphics and sounds. Some games have a live version of Online Blackjack, Roulette, Slots games and Baccarat. These games have a live dealer or croupier and the possibility to chat with them and other players. Live online casinos have a better experience. The live aspect makes the game more thrilling, because it feels more real than a computer version.
Another upcoming platform is the mobile phone. Blackberry and iPhone are most often used for gaming. When we look at casino games also 12% of the people plays them on their mobile phone. It's upcoming because more people have an Internet connection on their mobile phone, so they can gamble anywhere and whenever they want. Imagine playing a good game of blackjack while waiting for your dentist appointment. If you win in the couple of minutes that you're playing, the dentist needs sunglasses for your big smile!
Winning, the thrill of every game.
